Toning Exercises
Flabby arms can be a thing of
the past through a combination of arm toning exercises and a
healthy diet.
It is very easy to injure
yourself when lifting weights. Do not do so alone and make
sure that you do not have any existing medical condition
that may be made worse by weight lifting. Never use heavy
weights without first checking with your local

Firstly the bar bell
bicep curl
Your arm toning exercises regime
must include the bar bell bicep curl. Like many exercises it
looks quite straightforward but you must get it just right to
achieve toned arms. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart
and smoothly lift the bar bell up and curl it into your
chest, keeping your elbows by your side, and your back
straight. When you curl the bar bell, you must raise it up to
just above your pectoral muscles. Be careful how you lower the
bar, slowly and smoothly without moving your elbows.
The alternate dumb
bell curl
The alternate dumb bell curl is
the next arm toning exercise. You can, if you wish, exercise
one arm only. This is an exercise where heavier weights are
often used but be aware that the heavier the weight the greater
the risk of injury. Once more make sure that your back is
straight and your feet are shoulder width apart. You need the
curl to your shoulder to be as tight as possible for maximum
contraction. As the name suggests, you can have a weight in
both hands and do alternative curls or begin by exercising one
arm only. As ever, always lower the weights slowly, rotating
them until they come to a rest by your sides.
And thirdly - skull
crushers !
The lest of these arm
toning exercises is the weirdly named skull crusher. This
exercise is used to tone up the triceps and will produce
visible results quickly but should never be attempted alone as
there is a fairly high risk of injury.
You lie on your back on a bench
and lift the bar up until your arms are straight then move it
backwards over your head with your palms upwards. Move the
weight slowly to the back as if you were going to lower it onto
the floor behind your head, instead bring the bar back and
repeat.
